Open Arts, as a creative organisation, touches on the expression of passion in the creative arts as part of its mission of making a positive difference in the lives of people in the community through the work of art.  

JOB SUMMARY 

Open Arts seeks to hire a Business Development Associate to drive new business development, coordinate marketing efforts and pursue diverse income sources so we are as sustainable as possible. Ideal candidates will have experience in development, philanthropy, and/or corporate sponsorships and business development. 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

The Key Responsibilities will include 

  • Leading business opportunities and fundraising campaigns;
  • Conducts prospect research of corporate entities and develops fundraising strategy;
  • Execute a plan to secure cash and in-kind support to grow income and reduce organisational expenditure;
  • Develop innovative and effective methods of identifying, approaching, and pitching to target companies;
  • Create plans for corporate support and cultivation of new prospects for philanthropic and sponsorship grants; 
  • Lead corporate sponsorship activation;
  • Design and implement programs specifically intended to support sponsorship and fundraising;
  • Track donor-specific websites to acquire information on upcoming opportunities;
  • Performing due diligence and eligibility screening on potential opportunities;
  • Assisting the development of proposals for opportunities;

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Significant experience in fundraising through corporate partnerships, including demonstrated understanding of social impact and corporate social responsibility principles and practices
  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience planning and executing fundraising.
  • Ability to interact with high-level donors, individuals and organisations.  
  • Proven and highly successful track record of corporate fundraising.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite, Asana and Slack
  • Time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Knowledge of art and culture is preferred; knowledge of the corporate philanthropy community is also preferred.
  • Prior experience at an arts organisation in the not-for-profit sector is considered an asset.
