Type: Full Time (The schedule will include some evening and weekend programmes.)

Open Arts is an arts collective committed to promoting the arts and creative endeavours. Open Arts as a creative organisation touches on the expression of passion in the creative arts as part of its mission of making a positive difference in the lives of people in the community through the work of arts.  

JOB SUMMARY 

Open Arts is seeking to hire a communications assistant to join its team. The communications assistant supports the organisation’s communications activities in collaboration with programme staff. 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

The Key Responsibilities will include 

  • Managing and executing content on social media accounts, including administering social media posts, writing copy, and selecting content for review;
  • Data review, editing and proofing assets for web and publishing material;
  • Responding to queries made to the organisation through various platforms
  • Collaborating on the communications activities that support the promotion and production of events and activities
  • Translating and populating visual identity across multiple platforms, such as social media, email newsletters, websites, brochures, and presentations;
  • Identifying and facilitating digital assets and content, including maintaining databases;
  • Creating, amending, and updating design collateral as needed
  • Helping set and then adhering to workflow processes to meet deadlines through Asana and other workflow tools;
  • Travelling to necessary and relevant festivals, conferences, symposiums, and convenings, including in-person organisation events, as needed;
  • Taking on additional duties as required

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least one year of work experience in communications, arts administration or a related field;
  • Excellent skills in navigating and creating creative art content on social media
  • Ability to develop communications and project work plans 
  • Familiarity with Google Suite, Asana, Slack and making graphic designs on Canva 
  • Ability to interact with high-level donors, individuals, and organisations.  
  • Time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to translate between Hausa and English will be a plus
